We are delighted to have partnered with Belfast Met, Northern Regional College, South Eastern Regional College and South West College to offer their students the opportunity to join the NIAO as a Higher Level Apprentice (HLA) in Accounting.
Over the course of the two-year programme, our HLAs get the chance to play a hands-on role in public audit as we support them towards achieving the Level 5 Accounting Technicians qualification.
What will I be doing?
To begin with, HLAs provide valued assistance to more experienced staff conducting audits, but as training progresses their duties and responsibilities develop to include:
- •Building working relationships with colleagues and auditees
- Preparing audit plans
- Carrying out audit tests under supervision;
- Undertaking research, data analysis and document review;
- Contributing to the drafting of reports on audit findings and recommendations

What do I need to apply?
- 7 GCSEs A-C including Maths to English Language
- 104 UCAS points
- Be able to travel to various locations as needed to meet the mobility requirements of the post in full.

Higher Level Apprenticeships are advertised by the abovementioned colleges in January each year. Shortlisting and interviews usually take place in late May – June, with HLAs taking up post in September.
